“Dr. Kevin performed a couple of processes as far as removing the silver fillings from"
Dr. Kevin performed a couple of processes as far as removing the silver fillings from my teeth and replacing those, so I don't have any silver in my mouth now. I had a gap issue between a couple of teeth, and Dr. Kevin filled those in slightly, so now they're closed.
I decided to have Dr. Kevin look at my fillings because I didn't like how they looked after I had my braces removed, and my teeth were straight. And my orthodontist raved about how perfect my smile was and my teeth were. Brushing those, I still had those hanging in my mouth, the silver, and we spoke about it almost immediately, and we made an appointment. And in a couple of appointments, he was able to drill those out and to replace them, and it was seamless. It was seamless. And I almost forget that I had it done, but my daughter reminded me of it a few weeks ago. I was like, "Oh yeah, I do remember that now." But yeah, it was seamless.
I just didn't like how it looked in my mouth. You know, this nice smile and the teeth were white and everything else, then have silver hanging in there. It just looked a little weird. My confidence shot the roof. It was amazing how ... I didn't think it would because I thought I was a pretty confident guy, but with the smile in place, and having the team, Groth Dentistry behind it, this smile? Oh, yeah. This is my money maker, and I flash it all the time, and I get compliments all the time on how great my smile is, and I went to them.
“I haven't had a lot of issues myself as an adult. But I feel like"
I haven't had a lot of issues myself as an adult. But I feel like just even with the cleanings that we get every six months, I feel like they use the cutting edge tools and technology and I leave with my mouth feeling very clean. And I feel like my teeth are very well cared for. And my children the same thing. They've had some procedures done and sometimes they're able to schedule it right on the spot so that we don't have to drive back. And they've had no pain. It's been very comfortable. And everything that they've done has lasted the way it should.
I think he's done a lot preventatively. He's given me lots of... Every time I come in I learn something new that I can do to make my oral health better. So I was having some issues with some receding gums and he recommended using electronic toothbrush. And I left right away and went and bought one and immediately saw a change in the way that my teeth felt and the way that my gums felt. And just right down to rinses I can use. And I learned the last time I was here that you need to scrape your tongue. And so that's something that I've started doing and it just makes me feel like I'm doing everything that I can. And he's teaching me and his staff is teach... Dr. Kevin and his staff are teaching me what to do to make my teeth and my mouth as healthy as can be.
“Where I grew up, it was all well water. So there was no fluoride. So"
Where I grew up, it was all well water. So there was no fluoride. So I didn't get a lot of that extra help from regular drinking water growing up as a kid and as a kid we all kind of eat sweets, have pop and drink. So, that was a detriment that's still kind of dealing to this day. So before we did anything outrageous in terms of really revamp my entire mouth we just started with prescription type toothpaste and took it step by step to see if those helped in the interim before I have to go out and do something major and so far the past year it's been great in terms of keeping off any more larger cavities. The crowns were actually something that a previous dentist had done incorrectly in the past and Dr. Kim came here and he was able to get the solution and I have had zero issues since starting here about two years ago.
The experience went very well. I actually reached out to Dr. Kevin prior because something I had an issue with my tooth where the old filling fell out and they were able to get me in right away and from the second I got in that chair, even the different technology and the different methods they use really shrinks that time and just makes you in that chair every minute valuable and then even leaving here, they said, please do not hesitate to call or to reach out if there's a problem. So even from the second that it was finished to the weeks leading after it, I've had no problems. They make sure they're upfront about you before you do anything, whether it's from getting a numbing shot to making sure you're comfortable. That is one thing that he reiterates throughout the entire process when you're sitting in that chair is making sure that you're comfortable and making sure that you let them know if you're not.
Any sort of filling or replacement or a crown is obviously not an enjoyable experience. But when they really do slow it down and walk you through each step and make sure you're comfortable throughout the entire process, that's what really makes the difference here. It makes you feel like they really do care and you don't have to be ashamed and you don't have to feel bad for making them stop in the middle of the procedure and that's what's different. They're not just trying to knock it out. They make sure that you're comfortable, you know what to expect and then you get out of here all feeling better.
“Dr. Kevin is the one who noticed the wisdom teeth coming in, all four of"
Dr. Kevin is the one who noticed the wisdom teeth coming in, all four of them, he's the one who made the recommendation that they be removed. I asked him, "Should it be done in-house? Should it be done by an oral surgeon?" He said that he was capable of doing it, did it under a local anesthetic, and no problems, easy. Both Dr. Kevin and his staff made sure that I was aware of what was going to happen, how it was going to happen, really what was happening and, again, why it needed to happen. They educated me fully prior to, and throughout the procedure they were helping me because I was awake and they were just walking me through it the whole way.
While that procedure was going on, they made sure that I was comfortable and relaxed by asking me if I had any pain; I did, at some point, so they continued to administer a bit of local anesthetic, just to make sure that I didn't feel too much. But, again, they just try and make you feel comfortable the whole way. Over the years, I've been coming here. Kevin noticed, doing X-rays or however they look at your teeth to make sure that you're not grinding or anything's wrong with them, he, again, is the one who noticed that there was some wear on some of my molars and other areas of my teeth, and he said that I should probably get a bite guard, and fitted me for one.
The benefits of that bite guard, again, one that he recommended was ... I mean I used to get headaches, waking up in the morning, and I don't know many other symptoms of grinding your teeth, but it definitely made a noticeable improvement in my sleep, helped me sleep better, and when I woke up, I didn't feel as, I don't know if it was tired, but after having a bite guard, I noticed better sleep.
“Honestly, I had been wearing like a 25 year old retainer that Dr. Dave made"
Honestly, I had been wearing like a 25 year old retainer that Dr. Dave made for me and it was falling apart. So I came in to talk to Kevin saying, "I think I need a new retainer," and he looked at my bite and said, "Do you have jaw pain? Do you have headaches? Do you wake up like this?" And I said, "Yes." He said, "You have a clenching, grinding problem. I'm going to make you a mouth guard." I was hesitant because I really liked my retainer and he made me a mouth guard and it's amazing. I wake up without a headache. I didn't know you were supposed to wake up without headache. So really, it's been the best thing that's happened to me.
When we first talked about getting a mouth guard, I wasn't really on board with it because I'd had one years ago and it was a big, bulky plastic giant thing in my mouth and I couldn't sleep with it. I couldn't get comfortable with it in. I couldn't make it work. So Kevin said, "It's not like that anymore. Let's try this. See..." And he was right. It's again, the new technology. It's not a giant piece of plastic in my mouth. It's amazing. So he walked me through it and he said if I was unhappy with it, we could go back to my old, ancient retainer, but we didn't need to. So I sleep through the night now. I don't wake up with a pain in my neck or my jaw. I sleep really well with my mouth guard and I wake up feeling great. I feel better in the morning because I've had a better night's sleep and I wake up without a headache.
